Dust explosion test equipment is available which can measure both the sensitivity of dust clouds to different ignition sources as well as strength of explosion. Data is used in the design of plant to reduce the risk of incidents and to enable the safe control of explosion effects.

Minimum Ignition Energy Apparatus

To measure the sensitivity of a dust cloud to electrostatic spark ignition so that appropriate precautions can be taken. A spark calibrator option is also available.

Minimum Ignition Temperature Apparatus

Used to establish maximum permissible surface temperatures of process plant. Also used in the specification of electrical equipment in hazardous areas.

20-Litre Sphere Apparatus

For the measurement of maximum explosion pressure and Kst value. Data is used in the design of explosion protection devices and systems.

Explosion Demonstrator

Self-contained kit to demonstrate small dust explosions to others.

Explosion Screening Apparatus

A laboratory version of the explosion demonstrator that enables the formal classification of powders as either flammable or non-flammable.

Hartman Bomb Apparatus

A small scale alternative to the 20-Litre sphere when only small powder samples are available.

Maximum Oxygen Concentration Apparatus

For use with Explosion Screening Apparatus to establish inert gas requirements in oxygen reduced atmospheres.
